Themed Exploration

Study Abroad and Themed Explorations

Themed Explorations (TEs) are an opportunity for students to choose a topic that they can explore in considerable depth from a range of interdisciplinary perspectives, through a three-course sequence. More information on the TE core curriculum requirement can be found on PrideNET.

Semester Study Abroad Themed Exploration

Fulfill the 3-course, 9-credit requirement by choosing Study Abroad as your Themed Exploration. The Study Abroad TE is an opportunity for students to study a range of topics within a global context over the course of a semester. Therefore, almost any course taken abroad that is outside of your major will count! Imagine the possibilities!

Students can also fulfill other core curriculum requirements and electives. Make sure to consult with your advisor about the possibility of fulfilling major or minor requirements. A full course load abroad is typically 12-16 credits or 3-5 courses depending on the country/program.

Summer Study Abroad & Themed Explorations

Can't spend a full semester abroad? Talk to the International Center about fulfilling the "global perspectives" course requirement of one of the other Themed Explorations (Creativity, Social Justice or Health & Wellness) through a summer or short-term study abroad option. Imagine spending the summer learning about Holistic Health & Wellness in Thailand, Writing Italian Food in Italy, or Spanish in Costa Rica.

A course on a short-term study abroad program can also fulfill other core curriculum and elective requirements. Make sure to consult with your advisor about the possibility of fulfilling major or minor requirements.
